Blessed New Year

Santa heard our wish! We rapidly moved up on the waiting list this past December. One evening our social worker called and said it was time to start our home study. We thought what? We are not number 10 yet... we said OK and set up a time to meet. The next day I called the agency and asked where we were on the list. "Well", she said, "technically number 15, but 5 are on hold and the next 10 are not ready". "What"? I replied, and thought she must be kidding. OMG that makes us next in line??? That feeling of a surprise pregnancy, which we thought we had lost with such a planned way to start a family, just occurred. We felt panic stricken, nervous, and excited. We realized that when we get all our paperwork in, we could be next in line for a referral!!! We hadn't planned for our referral for at least 6-9 months. It could be by February?? Wow!! The thought amazed us. That night we started on our paperwork, the next day got our fingerprints done and we were on our way to completing our paperwork.
It has been such a blessed holiday season. The joy of knowing our daughter is on her way home to us made for such a wonderful time. Santa brought her some presents and we have purchased her crib and are starting to get the nursery ready. The excitement is overwhelming.
We had the first meeting of our home study last week. It went very well. We should be able to finish up by the end of January. We could then potentially be next in line for a referral.
We are thankful and feel truly blessed.
Happy New Year!
