We are sad to announce that Shadow passed away on February 27, 2008 after 14 years of a wonderful life. Our lovable boy will be remembered in our hearts always. Shadow was such a loyal, loving, curious, happy, loud (bark, bark, bark, ruff, ruff, ruff) boy, always with nose to the ground in the search for food or the nearest cat if out walking :-) He will be missed sooooooooooooo much and always be loved and part of our family.
Shadow P. Caster was born in February,1994 near Brainerd, Minnesota. He came into Leslie's life that summer while she was working at the Sherwood Forest Lodge. She took one look into those sweet brown eyes and it was love at first site. Shadow spent the next few years in Bemidji Minnesota while his mommy finished college. They then moved back to Pine River to live with
Uncle Beetle and family.
In 1999, Shadow and mommy moved to Oregon. Shadow enjoyed the mild, rainy climate compared to the 20 below zero weather in Mn. He loved strolling down the streets of Springfield with Grandpa Collicott. Grandpa and Grandma were always so good to Shad. Grandpa and would take him for walks up and down the streets; enduring the endless pulling and one-track mind search for cats, being pulled into cars, bushes and fences. It was in Springfield, Oregon where Shadow and Leslie's life changed forever and they met daddy Adam and then sister Lily. The next 9 years were the happiest years ever for shadow. He traveled throughout the US, camped alot, barked at many postal workers, ate very well and got to go for lots of w-a-l-k-s :-)
We all moved from Oregon this past year to Colorado. Shadow got to enjoy barking at elk while driving thru Rocky Mountain National Park, he spend a week camping in Durango with his Monroe family cousins and this past Thanksgiving he got to see his whole family and spend a few close, intimate days with his human and animal family.
Shadow's life gives testament to man's best friend. There wasn't a time that he was not by his mommy's side; protecting her, keeping her company, making sure she was OK. Shadow was so dedicated and loving to her. It was their love for each other that keep them both going thru some tough times.
Shadow did not get an opportunity to meet his new sister Ava, but she will know about Shadow, as he will live on in our hearts and minds forever. We love you Shadow and may peace be with you always. Thank you for blessing us these past 14 years with your love.
